Located on the edge of the Norfolk/Suffolk marshes in the Broads National Park, the Waveney Inn, a riverside pub and boutique hotel, has had a new extension built, to keep up with customer demand.

The new room comfortably holds 70 (seated) to 100 people (standing), and will primarily be used as an additional dining area. The venue, which has a sunken courtyard garden, will also be suitable for small weddings, business conferences and parties outside of the holiday season.

The Waveney Inn is part of the award-winning Waveney River Centre and this development will provide more jobs at the Waveney River Centre, which currently employs over 60 people.

Managing Director, James Knights says, “We’re always looking to improve our customer experience. Our holiday business is growing and the new extension to the restaurant helps service the increased demand from people staying on site, plus an increasing number of day visitors who have found what a fantastic place it is to come and have lunch by the river. We regularly receive booking enquiries for larger dining parties of eight or more and we can more easily accommodate them now.”

He adds, “With our luxurious hotel rooms and lots of other accommodation options, people can now come for lunch or dinner and enjoy a break away.”

The Waveney Inn, which re-opened in spring 2014, has quickly established itself as the Broads’ premiere waterside pub. The family-friendly pub features an air-conditioned bar and restaurant, huge outdoor deck and a mouth-watering menu of locally-sourced, home-cooked food and Adnams ales.

Situated in Burgh St Peter, near Beccles, the pub and hotel refurbishment has reinstated an important part of the area’s history – the Waveney Hotel. Opened over 135 years ago, the building has had a variety of uses. From 1904 to 1914, Frank Rice’s Zoological Gardens was a famous local attraction, featuring bears, monkeys and a ‘sacred white camel’ amongst its menagerie.
