The Old Bakery Bed and BreakfastThe Old Bakery Bed and Breakfast Contact: Theresa Miller
Owners Theresa Miller and Jim Duncan-Cooper extend a warm welcome to their beautiful 400 year old home in the picturesque Waveney Valley village of Pulham Market, just 10 minutes away from the country market towns of Diss and Harleston. Pulham Market is a small but perfectly formed South Norfolk village with a traditional Village Green, charming period cottages, thatched roofs, two pubs and beautiful scenery. Whilst the countryside is on the doorstep there is also plenty to do nearby and the lively city of Norwich, with an abundance of live entertainment venues, historic architecture and excellent shopping, is only a short drive away.
The Old Bakery is a delightful listed building, with wattle and daub walls and a timber frame, exposed internal beams and bags of character. Dating from 1580, The Old Bakery Bed and Breakfast was initially established in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I as the main bakery for the Pulhams, although the last baker retired in 1951. The building has been in continuous use for more than 400 years, first as a bakery, then a restaurant and now as a boutique bed and breakfast and home to the current owners.
With five spacious en-suite bedrooms, a large, comfortable lounge / breakfast room with a small library, exposed beams, and a beautiful wood fire The Old Bakery is both a warm and cosy retreat in winter and a cool haven in summer making it the ideal base from which to explore the idyllic Waveney Valley.
